It is currently displayed at the UC Berkley campus "Tech-Museum" thanks to Professor Carlo Sequin.

Foundry - Construction Part 3
Seems as though each stage of the construction is more exciting than the one before. The building going up helps to define the space on the concrete footprint. This space will be so nice to have for our monumental castings.

Seeing the concrete come was amazing. We were all surprised at how thick the floor is and how many trucks it took. The guys did a great job of getting the floors smooth and level.

Foundry - We have broken ground!
Along with working on Ellen's large commission we have been able to juggle the start of the new construction too! We are very excited to see things happening without Steve and I doing the labor ourselves. It sure is a lot faster than when we do it ourselves. At this point , the excavation and underground plumbing are complete AND the building has been delivered on the back of 2 trucks.

Foundry - "Woman's Day" by Ellen Tykeson
The patina application for Ellen's smaller commissioned piece. When completed the horse will rock back and forth with the bare back circus performer on its back. Steve & Ellen did quite a bit of engineering to make sure that the rocking motion was going to work correctly.

The first figure is put together in metal! It is very exciting to see the Fairy coming together and testing out her wings. With a mid-June installation date we are working quickly on the other 4 figures.

Foundry - We are GROWING!
We are very excited about the future. We are expecting to break ground within 2 months on an expansion that will house foundry office space, a second gallery, a new foundry, wax editing room, mold making room, supply storage and nicer and more parking for everyone! But BEST of all.... our current office space and wax/mold room will become a dedicated studio and office space for Steve and the promotion of his sculpture!

This will take some time to complete as all of the figures will be cut up into more manageable pieces. This has and will require "all hands on deck" at various times and a couple of people full time on just this to make sure it gets through in time to install!

Foundry - "A Fine Balance" by Ellen Tykeson
A beautiful, monumental commission for the new Peace Health Hospital in Eugene, OR. The scheduled installation for the bronze is in mid-June 2008. This piece is comprised of 5 circus performers ranging in height of 4 feet to 12 feet. The enlarged originals are in the sculpting studio where she had been working on them for several months before we went to get them to start the casting process! Keep coming back for more photos of the process!

I have gotten several requests from many of you about what the inside our remodeled office space looks like. Well, here it is! It is very nice to be out front where I can see everyone come & go and to have some (albeit not enough) display space for sculpture.

Steve - Soniquarious II Private Installation
After much work and a few "hiccups", we finally got the 2nd in the water fountain sound sculpture series complete. It is installed at the private residence of Rebecca Klemm in Georgetown. The piece is prominently displayed in her backyard with the sounds lofting over the fence to the park behind.

Steve - Seattle Street of Dreams
Thanks to the Howard/Mandville Gallery in Kirkland, we had the opportunity to place 2 of Steve's pieces in one of this year's Street of Dreams homes. The day was very warm but I had some great help with the lifting and placing while Steve directed. The pieces look beautiful in the gardens. These homes are smaller than the traditional Street of Dreams homes and are ecologically friendly. Read more on these homes.

Foundry - "Januvia" by Byron Rubin
Januvia is a pair of protein molecules with pharmaceutical drug composition adjoining them (the gold piece in the middle). We helped out Byron by attaching 70-ish small pieces together to create the whole. After a bit of shipping damage was repaired the sculpture was installed at the West Point Pennsylvania Merck location.

Installation of Celestial Marker on Lane Community College for the 2007 Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit. The exhibit runs until June 16th. Celestial Marker is located between The Center and Science buildings.

Foundry - Japanese Internment Memorial Installation
Eugene, OR has a new meditative garden that provides history and education for the Japanese American internment of World War II. Artist Kenge Koboyashi designed the plaques, Dan Chen sculpted the bas relief plaques and the foundry cast and installed them.

Foundry - Pax Mundi Installation at H&R Block Headquarters
Artist Brent Collins had us cast a 5'9" diameter ribbon ball, Pax Mundi, for the Kansas City, MO headquarters of H&R Block. Steve went back to help Brent with the installation.
